About Youth Lounge

The Youth Lounge provides a bi-monthly safe space for resilient youth and young people of the Lakeview community. Operating since March 2010, we currently have 60-70 youth participants on average each Youth Lounge. Youth Lounge provides a home-cooked meal, as well as space for creative expression, games, and warmth. We also often offer a “dressing room” clothing area as well. Our youth participants are primarily those who identify as LGBTQ, 90% people of color, 55% homeless. Additional participants include Broadway volunteers who receive comprehensive training and participate in the Lounge, interacting alongside the youth. All Youth Lounge participants make up our extended church family, as we identify our young people as a “part of us.”

Get Involved

There are various ways to get involved with Youth Lounge a supporter of our young people. We are always looking for volunteers to help with various Youth Lounge tasks: cooking food, serving food, setting up the space, interacting with our young people, cleaning up the space, and even offering special events or activities. Youth Lounge offers regular volunteer information sessions for interested volunteers. For more information, contact the Youth Lounge Ambassador.
