The choir at BUMC sings most Sundays from September to June and usually performs one anthem per week. We have a Christmas concert each year as well as several other special performances/festivals/projects, which this year included a carols and readings on All Saints Sunday, a special commissioned work on 9/11 and a possible recording in the spring.
There is no audition process, as we have all types of singers in the group, from those that are still learning about their voices, to those who studied music in college and graduate school. The choir numbers between 14-24 singers depending on the time of year. We are looking for folks to make a commitment and have strong regular attendance.
We sing mostly in English, though have done Spanish, Latin, and Zulu in the past year. The choir loves singing gospel and spirituals, but is equally at home with modern sacred anthems, musical theater, folk music and works of various other genres.
We rehearse from 7-8:30 pm on Thursdays in the sanctuary and meet at 10:15 on Sunday mornings to warm up and prepare for the 11:00 am service.

Announcing BUMC’s 2011-2012 Choir Season!
Season Kick-Off party and our first brief rehearsal will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 25th. At this meeting we will welcome new singers, discuss the upcoming year and begin work on a piece specially commissioned for Broadway’s September 11th service. We’ll also be bringing out some old favorites to prepare for a performance at the Lakeview Arts Festival!
