Marriage Equality at Broadway  On October 9th, 2011, National Coming Out Day Sunday, Broadway United Methodist Church held a congregational vote on a proposed declaration supporting marriage equality for all couples, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. With 43 voting community members present, and 10 voting in absentia, the declaration was adopted by 51 yes votes with 2 abstentions. Additionally, there were several non-voting community members and visitors to Broadway who were present in order to show their support and witness this historical vote.
